Lelystad is a city on the Flevopolder and is named after Cornelis Lely, the so-called father of the Zuiderzee Works. The city was founded in 1967 and is therefore one of the youngest residences in the Netherlands with more than 75.000 inhabitants.

As mentioned before, Lelystad is one of the youngest residences in the Netherlands, old buildings will have to be moved to a place outside the polder. In the area as tip Kampen or Zwolle, Amsterdam is also easily accessible from Lelystad. Shopping center Bataviastad was built in a 17th century fortified town, but of course newly built. There are no major attractions in this city. You can take a look at the Stadhuisplein, here is a large statue of Cornelis Lely. and I will take a look at Batavia city there is an old VOC ship at the Batavia shipyard.

Lelystad has three parks on the outskirts of the city: the Zuigerplasbos, Overijssel wood and Gelderse wood. Furthermore, Lelystad is located on the IJsselmeer and you can also enjoy a nice view over the water, at the waterfront you can also visit the Bataviawerf, Bataviastad and the Bataviahaven.
