The hills typify the Limburg landscape, along with rivers and beautiful nature reserves. Due to the flat Netherlands, the hills in this province are worth a visit for most people.

But the province also has many beautiful (historical) cities and places that are worth visiting.

Look further on this page to discover the cities and places!

In the south of the country, namely South Limburg, there is a nice cozy city called Heerlen. This city is known for its shops, there are many terraces where you can enjoy and is located in the hills of Limburg.

Heerlen is the 4th largest city in Limburg. The largest is Maastricht followed by Venlo and the 3rd city is Sittard

if you put this in a row then Heerlen is worth a visit

Maastricht is a city south of our country in the province of Limburg, with a population of more than 120.000 it is also the capital of the province of Limburg. Maastricht is mainly known for its pleasant historic city centre. There are many terraces and the location on the Maas also helps. You can't complain about culture.

Roermond is a beautiful city located where the river Roer meets the Maas. Roermond has approximately 57.000 inhabitants and is located in the southern province of Limburg. Roermond is a cozy old Hanseatic city. The city has a lot to offer. You can enjoy the beautiful old buildings, rivers, parks and shopping in the city center or in the outlet center.

Sittard is an old town located in approximately the narrowest part of the province of Limburg, on the border of Central Limburg and the hilly South Limburg. Sittard is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands and received city rights in 1243.

Sittard is a real church city, in the city center there are no fewer than five churches fairly close together. Besides viewing the cultural heritage, you can also shop well in Sittard.

Valkenburg is a small but very cozy and very touristy fortified town. Valkenburg is located in the very south of the country, in the south of the province of Limburg. In Valkenburg you will find a different architectural style than you see in most cities in the Netherlands, many buildings are made of marl, yellow stones from the caves in the vicinity of the city. The city has a very historic feel and that is partly due to these marl buildings. You could hardly tell that Valkenburg is a fortified city, but these days the municipality has corrected it, you can read more about this under the heading Cultural heritage.

Venlo is a pleasant city with a historic city center in Limburg, the city has many amenities, for example you can enjoy shopping and enjoy the many heritage that the city has. The city has more than 39, 100 inhabitants. Venlo is also easy to reach. We definitely recommend a visit to the city
