Winschoten is a city in the east of the province of Groningen, the city has 18.140 inhabitants. Winschoten is a pleasant city partly because the city has a lot to offer.

The city is quite old, Winschoten received city rights in 1825, but this was more symbolic. The city of Winschoten is nicknamed Molenstad

The brick St. Vitus Church on the Marktplein dates from the late 13th century (around 1275), but may have already had an older predecessor.
