Zoutelande is a touristic seaside resort on the Zeeland peninsula of Walcheren. With about 1600 inhabitants, it is only a small village, but certainly in the summer period a very touristic attraction. This is thanks to the pleasant village, with a beautiful bathing beach on the Westerschelde on the other side of the dike and dunes.

The Catharina Church in Zoutelande Zoutelande probably got its name from the salty land that was there. In the Middle Ages, the Willibrordus well was very popular, it was built on the spot where Willibrord had put a cross on the ground around 690, according to him fresh water welled up here that would be medicinal. The well disappeared in the dike after the flood disaster. It is suspected that Zoutelande was founded after 1271 as a subsidiary of the village of Westkapelle.
