Hoogeveen is a small town in Drenthe it is close to Meppel the city is nice to visit it is a nice shopping city and there is a cozy atmosphere the people are friendly the city is quiet. Hoogeveen is a city to take a look at, we do not recommend Hoogeveen for several days.

The City of Hoogeen was founded in the year 1636. This was done by Pieter Joostens and Johan van der Meer, who were Leiden investors.
Because after serious conflicts with the Baron, Roelof van Echten tot Echten, the people of Leiden decided that their workers had to settle permanently on their Fens.
After the Second World War, most of the canals were filled in to create straight, wide roads ideal for traffic. Hoogeveen received an economic boost at that time and Hoogeveen was then one of the fastest growing municipality in the Netherlands with 20.000 inhabitants. To be able to reason the enormous growth of the population, many new housing estates were realized

Enjoying nature is certainly possible in and near Hoogeveen.
There are plenty of parks in the city itself. Some examples of these parks are the Zuiderpark and Steenbergerpark. For the rest, there are even more parks. If you want to go to the large greenery, you can also go into the province of Drenthe. The province is full of nature. A large nature reserve near Hoogeveen is the Dwingelderveld
